Smriti Mandhana’s Early Life and Family Background
Smriti Mandhana was born on July 18, 1996, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, into a Marwari Hindu family. Her father, Srinivas Mandhana, was a chemical distributor, while her mother, Smita Mandhana, is a homemaker.
At the age of just two, Mandhana moved to Sangli, Maharashtra, with her family, where she completed her education from Chintaman Rao College of Commerce, Sangli.
Smriti’s father Srinivas and her brother Shravan Mandhana both played cricket at the local level, and watching them inspired the left-handed batter to take up the sport.
How Smriti Mandhana Started Her Cricket Journey
At just 9 years of age, the Mumbai-born cricketer was selected for Maharashtra’s Under-15 team, and by the age of 11, she made it into the Under-19 side.
The year 2013 marked the first major step towards Smriti Mandhana’s rise as she scored a double century against Gujarat Under-19 team in a List-A match during the West Zone Under-19 tournament.
Talking about her international journey, Smriti Mandhana began her career in April 2013 when she made her debut in Women’s One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals against Bangladesh during their tour of India, where she delivered decent performances.
In August 2014, she got an opportunity to play Test cricket against England, where India secured a victory, and Mandhana once again produced a decent performance.
The year 2016 became a turning point in her career when Smriti Mandhana scored her maiden international century against Australia, announcing to the world that the Indian Women’s Team had found a formidable batter.
Since then, her dominance has continued globally. Apart from representing the Indian women’s team, Smriti also plays for WPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru and The Hundred team Manchester Originals.
Smriti Mandhana’s Relationship Status and Personal Life
In the past, Smriti Mandhana was reportedly dating music composer Palak Muchhal. The relationship began in 2019, and after six years together, the couple had planned to get married in Sangli.
However, the wedding had to be postponed due to the heart-related health issues of Manchester Super Giants’ star’s father, Srinivas Mandhana.
After this, several claims and rumours started circulating on social media, which were denied by Palak Muchhal’s family. On December 7, 2025, Smriti Mandhana and Palak Muchhal announced that they had decided to part ways.
