Jemimah Rodrigues’ Early Life and Family Background
The 25-year-old cricketer was born on September 5, 2000, in Bhandup, Mumbai, into a Manglorean Catholic family. Her father, Ivan Rodrigues, worked as a junior cricket coach, while her mother, Lavita Rodrigues, was a former school teacher. Jemimah also has two brothers, Enoch and Eli.
Rodrigues completed her schooling at St. Joseph’s Convent High School in Mumbai and later pursued her college education at Rizvi College of Arts, Science, and Commerce.
The Indian women’s cricketer started playing cricket when she was just four years old. Her father, who was a cricket coach at her school, guided and trained her during her early days. Later, her family shifted to Bandra, Mumbai, to provide better sports facilities and opportunities for their children.
How Jemimah Rodrigues Started Her Cricket Journey?
At just 13 years of age, the fearless middle-order batter started representing the Maharashtra Under-19 team. The year 2017 became a turning point in her domestic career when the 17-year-old smashed 178 runs off 142 balls against Gujarat for Maharashtra. She later followed it up with a remarkable 202-run innings against Saurashtra.
After Smriti Mandhana, Rodrigues became the only player to score a double century in domestic cricket. Her outstanding performances earned her the Jagmohan Dalmiya Award for the Best Domestic Junior Women’s Cricketer from the BCCI in 2018.
In February 2018, the former junior hockey player made her international cricket debut in a WT20I against South Africa. Her explosive 37-run knock played a crucial role in helping India secure victory.

Later that year, in March 2018, the star cricketer made her ODI debut during India’s home series against Australia. On March 26, 2018, she scored her first T20I half-century against Australia.
The right-handed batter made her Test debut against England in December 2023. Since making her T20I debut, Rodrigues has continued to grow with every match and has established herself among the players who have consistently moved forward in their careers.
The Delhi Capitals star was signed by the team for ₹2.2 crore during the inaugural WPL auction in 2023, and she continues to represent the franchise.
Talking about her The Hundred journey, Rodrigues made her debut in the tournament with Northern Superchargers, where she announced herself in style by smashing 92 runs off just 43 balls against Welsh Fire, earning recognition in England as well.
Currently, she represents Southern Brave Women in The Hundred.
