Jemimah Rodrigues Asks the Thailand Women’s Team to Hold Their Heads Up

The match against Pakistan was a crucial opportunity for the Thailand women’s cricket team to stay in the tournament, but unfortunately, they couldn’t make it happen.

Following their exit, Rodrigues shared an Instagram story as a tribute to the team, writing, “Hold Your Heads Up.”

Rodrigues wrote, “Thailand Definitely won hearts. What stood out was some brilliant catching and run outs. But more than anything the passion and joy they played with.”

“Hold your heads up high and be proud of yourselves,” she added.

Rodrigues is out of the India women’s Asia Cup squad due to injury, but she has been closely following every match. Talking about the Thailand Women vs Pakistan match played on September 1, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first.

Muneeba Ali’s brilliant half-century helped Pakistan post 119 runs.

Thailand, who had bowled brilliantly, then failed to chase down the target and could only manage 84 runs in their 20 overs. As a result, they suffered a 35-run defeat and were knocked out of the tournament.

Sadia Iqbal was the standout bowler in the match, taking three wickets while conceding just 11 runs in her four overs. Meanwhile, the Player of the Match award went to Muneeba Ali, who top-scored with 54 runs off 52 balls.

Talking about Women’s Asia Cup Group A, after Thailand’s exit, India and Pakistan have two points each, while Hong Kong remain in the tournament with zero points from one match.

With the top two teams from the group qualifying for the semi-finals, the chances of India and Pakistan making it to the knockout stage are now very high.
