The second ODI between India and the West Indies on September 30 will be remembered for a long time, with both teams scoring massive runs, centuries being scored, and India captain Shubman Gill hitting a double century. His brilliant knock even impressed Australian women’s cricketer Amanda-Jade Wellington.

The Indian captain scored an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls to help his team secure victory. Impressed by the brilliant performance, Amanda-Jade Wellington took to her Instagram story and praised Shubman Gill in her own style.

Wellington wrote, “Just saw the scorecard, oh my days.”

On her Instagram Story, the Australian women’s cricketer shared a post from the Indian cricket team’s Instagram page featuring Gill. The post mentioned that the opening batsman was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 223 off 133 balls.

For context, there is no particular friendship between the 29-year-old women’s cricketer and the Punjab-born batter. This is simply a case of one player appreciating another player’s brilliant performance.

Talking about yesterday’s historic India vs West Indies match, it was truly a remarkable game in cricket history. Batting first, the West Indies posted 405/7 in 50 overs, with John Campbell scoring 101, captain Shai Hope making 104, and Amir Jangoo smashing 114 to help the team put up three big centuries.

The match looked completely under West Indies’ control until India’s opening pair of captain Gill and Rohit Sharma walked out to bat. The two Indian openers put together a brilliant 255-run partnership off 158 balls before Hitman was dismissed after scoring 101.

India were almost halfway to victory, and Gill’s unbeaten 223, along with 29 from Virat Kohli and 31 from Ruturaj Gaikwad, helped India chase down the target comfortably and secure the win.

For context, this was Shubman Gill’s second double century. The Gujarat Titans star had previously also scored a double century against New Zealand.
