Ellyse Perry is one of the biggest names in women’s cricket and has perhaps won almost every major trophy for Australia. However, the 2026 T20 World Cup semi-final, where she was retired hurt, still raises questions about her retirement. But the women’s cricketer herself has now subtly given an answer about her mood towards retirement.

Recently, the 35-year-old cricketer appeared in an interview with Wisden Cricket, where she spoke about cricket and life beyond the stadium.
During the conversation, she was asked about her incredible achievements, including nine World Cup trophies, one WPL trophy, a Commonwealth gold medal, and two Women’s Big Bash League titles—a record that has never been achieved in either men’s or women’s cricket.
After all these achievements, when asked what comes next, the Australian cricketer had plenty to say, but retirement was certainly not part of her answer.
Perry said, “I don’t think I’ve ever really been someone to write down specific things like that. I love learning new things. I love getting better. I love experiencing things in different ways and finding new kind of perspectives or edges, or enjoyment in what I’m doing.”
“I guess like you, there’s an opportunity to do that every single day. You know, with big landmark events or winning titles, like you can lose sight of, I guess, the day-to-day stuff that’s actually just as fulfilling,” she added.
Later, the cricketer concluded, saying, “So I’ve probably always looked more at that. And you know, at the moment, like I love every day. It’s a new challenge.”
