The women’s cricket world has received an unexpected piece of news, with Kate Cross, one of England’s important players, announcing her retirement. Soon after, Maia Bouchier and Phoebe Litchfield couldn’t hold back their emotions and shared their reactions, remembering her journey.

Recently, Cross shared a post on Instagram with the caption “Just a little update 🤍🏏,” announcing on the next slide that this summer would be her last playing cricket, along with a long and emotional note.

Fans reacted in the comments, while her teammate Bouchier and The Hundred Sunrisers Leeds teammate Litchfield paid tribute to her in their own way by sharing stories of her best bowling performances.

Bouchier wrote, “I’m so grateful for all the memories you’ve been such an inspiration and great friend to me and I’m sure you are going to do great things in the world of cricket.”

Apart from that, the 27-year-old cricketer wrote to Cross that she had a great career and added, “See you soon.”

Bouchier couldn’t stop herself from expressing her emotions in the comment section too. She expressed, “A legend of a cricketer and gem of a human 🥺. Congrats on an incredible career @crossy16! I can’t wait to see what’s next for you ❤️”

After that, Litchfield, who is from Cross’ Ashes rival team, Australia, but played alongside her at Sunrisers Leeds, congratulated the 34-year-old on her amazing career. She also took to the comment section of the post and posted,❤️❤️🌹🌹💜💜”

Glenn Maxwell wrote in the comment section of the post, “Congrats on a great career Crossy! Enjoy the next chapter 🙌”

English cricketer Stuart Broad commented, “Great career Crossy. Legend.” Similarly, Danni Wyatt-Hodge declared, “You’ll be missed Crossy! ❤️”

Australian legend Lisa Sthalekar penned, “Well done mate on a wonderful career. Enjoy the last few moments and cherish them.”

Talking about Cross’ career, the experienced England fast bowler began her international career in 2013 and went on to play a total of 102 international matches, taking 140 wickets. One of her most memorable performances came in the England vs Australia Test match played in 2014, where Cross took six wickets to help her team secure victory.
