Sophie Luff has won the Toyota PCA Women’s Player of the Year 2026 based on the MVP points system and public vote, and this brilliant achievement by the England cricketer caught the attention of her teammate Charlie Dean, who dropped four words for Luff.

Charlie Dean Acknowledges Sophie Luff’s Brilliant Year

Somerset Women’s team shared the England cricketer’s achievement on Instagram through their official account, and Dean also shared Sophie Luff’s win of the Toyota PCA Women’s Player of the Year award on her story with a caption.

Dean wrote, “Not a bad year @sophieluff06.”

The Taunton-born cricketer and Dean share a very close friendship. The two have been part of the England Women’s team for quite some time and have also played together for Somerset Women.

Luff’s social media handle itself is strong proof of their close friendship, with Dean frequently featuring in her posts.

The nominees alongside the 32-year-old for the award she won were Maia Bouchier, Sophia Dunkley and Mady Villiers. Talking about the Somerset Women’s star’s performance, she scored 1,000 runs during the summer, including 536 runs in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup and 397 runs in the Vitality Blast.

For those who may not know, the right-handed batter’s team, the Trent Rockets, also won The Hundred. This year was truly a special one for the women’s cricketer. This was Luff’s year, and winning the PCA Women’s Player of the Year award has proved it.

This is Luff’s first PCA award win, and for your information, she is the first women’s cricketer to win the award as an uncapped/non-international player since Eve Jones, who won it in 2021.

This is the first time someone from Somerset Women has won this award, and there is double the joy for Somerset this time as the PCA Men’s Player of the Year award has also gone to the same club, with Craig Overton’s win.
