After their brilliant Women’s Asia Cup victory, India Women once again defeated Sri Lanka Women in the Asian Games Gold Medal match. The contest looked quite one-sided, with the Women in Blue winning comfortably. Following back-to-back defeats, Harshitha Samarawickrama has now shared a subtle piece of advice for her team.

Harshitha Samarawickrama Subtly Urges Team to Keep Moving Forward

Just three days after the defeat, on September 25, 2026, the Sri Lanka Women’s cricketer shared photos on Instagram and used the caption to send a message to her team.

Samarawickrama wrote, “Protect your peace. Trust yourself. Keep moving forward.❤️😇🙏.”

Focusing on the caption, although the 28-year-old did not mention the team by name, the photos she shared are worth noticing and make it clear that the message was aimed at the Sri Lanka Women’s team.

In the first photo, Samarawickrama can be seen wearing a Sri Lankan Olympic hoodie along with stylish sunglasses. She is sitting comfortably on a seat, with a casual and confident look.

The second photo features the same outfit, although the cricketer can be seen striking a slightly different pose.

Talking about the India Women vs. Sri Lanka Women Asian Games match, the Lankan women suffered a heavy defeat. Batting first, the Women in Blue posted 216/3 in 20 overs, with a brilliant 99-run partnership between Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana putting Sri Lanka under pressure early on.

Verma contributed 48 runs, and Mandhana scored 79, while Richa Ghosh added 49 to help India post a big total. In reply, Sri Lanka Women could not do much with the bat. Captain Chamari Athapaththu tried to fight back but returned to the pavilion for 29 runs, while Harshitha Samarawickrama was dismissed for a duck.

This was Sri Lanka Women’s second consecutive defeat against India. Just before this, on September 13, 2026, Sri Lanka Women had also lost to India in the Women’s Asia Cup, going down by 72 runs.
