Alyssa Healy and Marizanne Kapp may be rivals at the international level, but thanks to the WBBL, the two star cricketers are also teammates. Recently, the Australian cricketer made an honest admission about her Sydney Sixers teammate.
Alyssa Healy Admits Marizanne Kapp Still Scares Her
Recently, Mitchell Starc’s wife appeared on the “Keepin’ It Cricket” podcast with Brad Haddin, where the hosts asked both players which cricketer scares them the most and who they would be most afraid to face. Without wasting any time, Healy immediately named Kapp in response.
Healy said, “Marizanne Kapp. She’s a teammate and an opposition player. I didn’t even have to think about the answer. She still scares me.”
The host pointed out that he had barely finished asking the question when the Australian cricketer was asked to explain her answer. The 36-year-old simply asked, “Have you ever played against Kapp?” Before adding, “She’s scary.”
Healy’s fear is certainly not misplaced, considering Kapp became the first female cricketer to take a hat-trick in women’s cricket. The former Australia captain isn’t the only one who might be wary of facing the South African star, as the bowler, who regularly bowls at an average speed of around 110–120 kmph, can perhaps make any women’s batter nervous.
Jersey No. 7 has already dismissed the Australian star twice. And if we look at her overall wicket tally, Kapp has 181 ODI wickets, one Test wicket and 101 T20 wickets to her name — a massive record for any women’s cricketer.
Talking about Healy and Kapp, although they come from rival teams at the international level, the two share mutual respect for each other from their time as teammates at the WBBL side Sydney Sixers. The two cricketers played together for six seasons, including being part of a WBBL-winning campaign.
However, the Kangaroo cricketer and the South African star are no longer teammates. Healy also announced her retirement from all formats of cricket on January 12, 2026.
