Harmanpreet Kaur and the Indian women’s team are all set to begin their Women’s Asia Cup campaign against Thailand. Although India have beaten Thailand in all three of their previous meetings, former cricketer Reema Malhotra has warned the Women in Blue not to take their opponents lightly.

Malhotra addressed fans on her YouTube channel, where she shared her strong playing XI for India ahead of their first Women’s Asia T20 match. During this, she also warned Kaur-led India that a T20 game can change at any moment and Thailand should not be taken lightly.
Malhotra said, “Since it’s T20 cricket, I don’t think you should take Thailand lightly either. In T20s, you never know what a team might do on a particular day.”
“We’ve seen smaller teams put bigger sides in difficult situations many times. India will have to keep this in mind as well,” she added.
Talking about the India vs Thailand head-to-head record, the two teams have faced each other three times so far. Their first encounter came on June 4, 2018, at the Women’s Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur, where India won by 66 runs.
The second meeting took place on October 10, 2022, when the Women in Blue secured a nine-wicket victory. In the 2022 Women’s Asia Cup semi-final, India also defeated Thailand by 74 runs.
In all three of these encounters, Kaur was leading India, and even today, the Women in Blue remain under her leadership.
The India vs Thailand match in the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup will be played on August 30, 2026, at 8:00 PM IST at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, while Naruemol Chaiwai will captain Thailand.
India are set to play their first match of the tournament, while Thailand have already played one game against Hong Kong — and won it by six runs.
