Smriti Mandhana completed 11,000 runs on September 22, 2026, becoming the first woman cricketer to reach the milestone. Following this achievement, congratulations started pouring in from all around, and among those messages, former wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel also dedicated a post to Mandhana.

Parthiv Patel Praises Smriti Mandhana’s Adaptability and Elegant Batting Style

The India Women’s vice-captain’s milestone was special in itself, and former wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel, who understands the significance of the occasion, explained through an Instagram post why Smriti Mandhana is a special cricketer.

Patel wrote, “11,000 international runs is a remarkable achievement, especially when they have been scored at the top of the order across all three formats.”

“Opening demands something different in every format. Smriti has adapted to each one while retaining the freedom and elegance that define her batting. Her 79 from 45 balls in the Asian Games final was another example of how well she reads the game, sets the tempo and takes responsibility in a big match.” He added.

The former cricketer concluded, “Congratulations, Smriti, on becoming the first woman to reach 11,000 international runs. A historic milestone and an inspiring benchmark for the next generation.”

This is not the first time Patel has been seen praising Mandhana. It is worth remembering the inaugural WPL auction, when the former RCB player also hyped up Jersey No. 18 after she was named captain of the team.

Talking about Mandhana’s major milestone, the cricketer reached it during the India Women vs Sri Lanka Women final for the Gold Medal at the Asian Games.

The opening batter went into the match just 13 runs short of the milestone, standing on 10,987 runs. She went on to reach the milestone and then scored 79 runs off 45 balls.

Mandhana’s brilliant innings helped India Women post a big total of 216/3, which Sri Lanka Women failed to chase as they were bowled out.
