Punjab Kings standout Shashank Singh has officially ended his association with the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS), confirming a high-profile move to Pondicherry for the upcoming 2026–27 domestic season.
Why Did Shashank Singh Leave Chhattisgarh?
The transition actually comes on the heels of a bitter falling out. Shashank revealed that a severe string of injuries, including a fractured right finger and serious shoulder damage, was met with complete indifference by the state association.
“Yes, I’m quitting Chhattisgarh. I’ve taken the NOC from CSCS and am moving to Pondicherry from the 2026-27 season,” Singh said.
“I suffered serious shoulder and finger injuries last season, but the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh didn’t support me at all in this phase.”

The friction intensified once the all-rounder recovered. According to Shashank, his name was deliberately omitted from the roster for the Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League 2026, and he was excluded from the state squad’s pre-season camp in Bengaluru (Alur). When he sought answers, he was met with total silence.
“I asked why they didn’t put my name. There was no response,” Singh added.
When you look at his recent numbers, you instantly realize his immense value to any side. During the 2024–25 domestic circuit, Shashank hammered 450 runs and picked up 11 wickets across 7 matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, alongside 188 runs in 7 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy games.
Across his List A career, he averages 40.53 with the bat (1,054 runs) and has claimed 37 wickets. While Singh had a quieter 2026 IPL, managing 132 runs across nine innings, he is sure to uplift the Pondicherry squad as a whole.
Pondicherry often fights to establish dominance against traditional powerhouses in the Elite and Plate groups. Shashank’s addition brings a proven, highly-skilled finisher, who has honed his skills in the IPL, providing a reliable anchor and accelerator in the death overs.
