Anyone who witnessed the 2026 One-Day Cup final between Hampshire Women and The Blaze will surely remember one name — Freya Kemp. Although she could not help her team win, she gave it everything in the final. Sadly, she will no longer be playing for Hampshire, leaving Maia Bouchier quite emotional.

Maia Bouchier Feels Proud of Freya Kemp’s Achievements

Hampshire Cricket remembered the English cricketer’s contribution by sharing the news of her move to Surrey on Instagram through a tribute video. Soon after, Maia Bouchier shared the video on her story and wrote emotional words for Freya Kemp.

“I’ll Miss you a lot @freyagkemp,” Bouchier added. “My partner in crime. So proud of everything you’ve achieved in the blue shirt. Love you.”

For context, Kemp and Bouchier are close teammates who have played together not only for the England Women’s international team but also for Hampshire Cricket. Sadly, the two will no longer be seen playing together in 2027, as the 21-year-old has now joined Surrey.

Just how special Kemp has been for Hampshire Cricket can be seen from the tribute post shared by the club’s official account. Even as the women’s cricketer left the club, Hampshire appeared to acknowledge her contribution by thanking her for everything.

Kemp joined Hampshire in 2025 and has played two seasons with the team so far. In 2025, Kemp scored a brilliant career-defining century, making 109 runs off 92 balls.

In 2026, the women’s cricketer continued to impress, scoring a total of 350 runs. Some of the Westminster-born cricketer’s most notable performances came against The Blaze in the final, where she scored 52 off 46 balls; against Surrey Women in the Eliminator, where she made 77 off 63 balls; and against Lancashire Women, where she scored 61 off 54 balls.
