India Women defeated Sri Lanka in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final, but when it was time for the trophy presentation, the Indian team did not attend the ceremony to receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who is Pakistan’s Interior Minister as well as the ACC and PCB chief.

Fans Turn on Mohsin Naqvi After India Refuses Women’s Asia Cup 2026 Trophy

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team decided not to accept the trophy from Naqvi. While Naqvi waited on the podium for the trophy presentation, the India Women’s team remained outside the presentation area, discussing the situation among themselves.

Given the tensions between India and Pakistan, the decision quickly became a major talking point, with fans reacting strongly against Naqvi.

One fan wrote, “Mohsin Naqvi should be removed now.”

Another added, “Shameless Naqvi. Hasn’t learnt from the past.”

“Even Pakistani cricketers hate, trophy chor (Thief) Mohsin Naqvi so much, that they have promised not to win any trophies as long he is the head of PCB…,” one of the users added.

One of the fans wrote, “The stadium crowd held back absolutely zero chill today!”

Another commented, “Just imagine how humiliated he has been still coming cause there people got something to post on sm.”

For context, India Women’s decision to refuse the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 trophy from Naqvi echoed what happened with the Indian men’s team last year.

After defeating Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup final, the men’s team had also refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi during the presentation ceremony.

This time, history repeated itself, but with Harmanpreet Kaur and the India Women’s team taking the same stand after becoming Asia Cup champions.

The incident didn’t end there, as chants could also be heard inside the stadium. The crowd present at the venue appeared to protest against Mohsin Naqvi, with loud chants being raised against him.
