Ashleigh Gardner is known for her outstanding all-round performances, but the Australian women’s cricketer has recently grabbed headlines for her personal life. Her ex-wife, Monica Wright, and their relationship complications have put Gardner in the spotlight, and after staying silent for several days, she recently broke her silence.
Ashleigh Gardner Says Sorry to Ex-Wife Monica Wright
Wright recently made serious accusations against the Australian all-rounder over her alleged relationship with teammate Georgia Voll. Gardner took to her Instagram handle and calmly responded to the allegations, thanking Cricket Australia for its support and trust in her.
Gardner wrote, “While my separation with my wife is a personal matter, I understand my current relationship status needed to be addressed by Cricket Australia given my position as vice-captain.”
In addition to the allegations, Wright had also demanded that Cricket Australia remove Gardner from her vice-captain role. However, the Australian star confirmed her commitment to the leadership role.
“I’m grateful that CA Board chosen to support my continued leadership. I look forward to playing a strong role as a leader and providing the best possible support to my teammates in the season to come,” Gardner added.
In the same story, the Australian star clarified her feelings on Wright. “I’m grateful for the time Monica and I shared and sorry for the pain this has caused,” Gardner continued.
“I wish her nothing but the happiness and success in the future. I won’t be making any further public comment on this matter at this time and ask that the privacy of those involved is respected.”
It has not been long since Gardner addressed the allegations, so Wright has not yet shared any response to the Australian cricketer’s statement.
